A Medical camp has been conducted by Bighelp in Jalluru village, Pithapuram Mandal, East Godavari district. A team of 5 doctors from nearby towns, Kakinada and Rajahmundry, have volunteered and provided free services during the camp and performed Physical examination, Dental checkup and Eye examination for 220 students at Jalluru Primary school.

An assessment on health and hygienic conditions of students at Jalluru Primary school was undertaken by Bighelp project committee at Jalluru project, and determined that many of the children have poor oral hygiene or physical health. Most of the students at this public school are financially poor and unable to consult doctors for routine medical examinations with their own expenses. Hence the Bighelp project committee worked with doctors for providing free medical examination, performing dental cleaning and creating awareness of their health and general care for the students at this school, by organizing a medical camp. Team of 5 doctors, Bighelp project committee members from Jalluru project, Bighelp executive members from Hyderabad office and several local Bighelp volunteers have participated in this Medical camp and helped doctors to perform Physical examination, dental checkup and eye examination for 220 students. After the checkup Bighelp has provided Tooth paste, Vitamins and medicine for free of cost to all students.

The camp was conducted on June 13th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Jalluru Primary school. Bighelp project committee members, prominent villagers, parents of Bighelp students and few volunteers from the family of Mrs. & Mr. Sudha Srinivas from USA have organized the camp successfully.
Bighelp Executive Body has explained the aims of the organization and provided guidelines to students and Project Committee members.
After the Medical Camp meeting was conducted and appreciated the services of doctors team and thanked the Smt. Sudha Srinivas family for their active and dynamic participation in conducting the camp successfully.

| Bighelp donors from USA Mrs.Sudha and Mr. Srnivas Bande have initiated this project during their summar vacation in India and requested Bighelp to perform an assessment on health and hygienic conditions of students at Jalluru Primary school. After assessing local Bighelp team in Jalluru and determining that many of the children have poor oral hygiene or physical health, Bighelp team from Hyderabad visited this school, talked to the teachers and parents to reassess the need. The executive committee headed by Bighelp Chairman Mr. Chand Pasha Shaik and Managing Trustee Mrs. Sarojini Maturi have approved the project, pooled the money from multiple donors and decided to implement the project in June 2013. | |
