Rules for Bighelp Math Bee Contest
We encourage participants and parents to read these rules prior to their children appearing for the Math Bee contest. Eligibility: Children from 1st grade to
8th grade are eligible to participate. Registration: Participants must register online. Grades 1: Leve1 1 Format: Question paper will have total 30 questions and participant is expected to answer all of the 30 questions. Total 60 minutes will be given to answer all 30 questions. The championship will be decided based on the score received. Calculators: Calculators are NOT allowed at any time of the contest Syllabus: Grade level syllabus. Although we try to limit to the State prescribed grade level syllabus, it should be understood that any syllabus can only act as a guideline, but in the same given category of syllabus, the level of difficulty can vary dramatically from a beginner to an advanced level. For the convenient of participants, we follow the syllabus from www.iMathWiz.com which offers online math practice for children. On-line Math Practice: We recommend the website www.iMathWiz.com for on-line math practice. Below is the procedure to create your free account and start the on-line practice. You may need to purchase their subsription if you like to continue to practice math after your child complete 15 topics and 6 tests.
Illegible writing: Unclear and illegible writing might be open for misinterpretation. So, contestants are expected to write clearly and legibly. The decision of the judges is final. Negative Points: There will be NO negative points for any incorrect answer. Championship: 3 winners (first, second & third places) will be declared for each level.Prizes: Certificate and a trophy will be awarded to winners. Tiebreak: In case of a tie for any winning position, coordinators may use weightage method to resolve the tie or award joint winners. Pencils: Contestants should bring their own pencils and sharpeners. Drinks: Participants should make sure they drink or eat enough food before the contests to be able maintain their energy levels until the completion of the contests. Please bring your own water bottle to the classroom. Answer Sheets: Answer sheets shall be returned to parents at the end of the event. It is parent's responsibility to collect them from coordinators at the venue. All uncollected sheets will be discarded after the event. Coordinator's role: The coordinator is the judge who will uphold the rules and validate the answer papers. They are in complete control of the contest, and their decision is final on all questions. Copy of rules: Copy of rules: It is parent's responsibility to get the copy of rules from the website. Special needs: Special needs: Math Bee coordinators will strive to provide accommodation for spellers who have physical challenges. All requests for Math Bee coordinators to accommodate special needs involving sight, hearing, speech, or movement should be directed to Math Bee coordinators well in advance of the Math Bee date. The judges have discretionary power to amend requirements on a case-by-case basis for contest participants with diagnosed medical conditions involving sight, hearing, speech, or movement. Please note: Bighelp is not associated with any of the local or national Math Bees, these rules are exclusively customized for the Bighelp annual fundraising event. It is the responsibility of participants to check the rules of other Math Bee contests before appearing them. |
